LPYC HISTORY FOR THE RECONSTITUTION OF THE CLUB

 

2004 to 2006 Planning discussions starting with Steve Lowe and John Owens. Over that time period Bob Pryor, John Ellis, John Springer, and David Rozell were in some of the discussions.

July 24, 2006 Meeting at Spring Creek for the Reconstitution of Lake Palestine Yacht Club. Present were Steve Herber, David Rozell, Bob Pryor, John Owens, Steve Lowe, John Ellis, Lynette Ruby, and Britt Ruby. This is from the minutes of the meeting.

THE CLUB IS BEING ESTABLISHED AS A BOATING CLUB WITH BOTH POWER AND SAIL BOATS WELCOME.

 

 

Steve Herber agreed to be the first commodore.

Oct. 14, 2006 committee was formed to develop the bylaws and membership application. John Ellis, John Springer, John Owens, Steve Herber

Dec. 9, 2006 New bylaws and membership application presented and approved.

First Annual Meeting January 13, 2007

This is from the bylaws.

The purpose of the Club shall be to encourage and develop recreational boating, boating safety, boating education, and related activities, including sailing, power boating, cruising and social functions; to promote good fellowship and clean sportsmanship for the recreation, comfort and enjoyment of its members. No part of any net earnings shall inure to the benefit of any member



Dues were established to be $300 per year half of which went into a capital improvement fund to be used for any future clubhouse or site improvements.



In 2013 dues were dropped to $200 with no more money being added to the fund.

In 2014 the intent is for dues to drop to $100 with the intention being for all dues to be spent each year for operating cost and events.
